Athens-Clarke County police said they ended a local man's five-month crime spree this week by charging him in connection with several commercial burglaries. The 50-year-old suspect was arrested Tuesday following a search of his home on Westchester Drive, where police said they recovered some of the stolen property and other evidence.

Justin Craig Gunter, 41, of North Franklin Street was arrested early Saturday morning after police received telephone tips that he was driving a pickup while in possession of an ounce of methamphetamine, Athens-Clarke County police said. Erratic Athens driver charged with DUI

Andre Dontrell Lumpkin, 25, of Christa Lane was arrested for alleged drunken driving early Sunday morning by an officer who saw him driving erratically, Athens-Clarke County police said. The officer began following Lumpkin about 1:45 a.m. after seeing the car make an illegal lane change in front of another vehicle.

Anti-discrimination complaint targets Athens bar

The first complaint filed under an amended Athens-Clarke County ordinance aimed primarily at addressing reported discrimination in downtown Athens bars alleges that 9d's Bar on East Clayton Street improperly denied entry to a black man last month. According to a news release from the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement, which worked to get the ordinance amendments passed in November, and is also acting on its own to address issues of discrimination in businesses across the community, 9d's Bar employees failed to produce a copy of a dress code that they alleged had been violated by Kendrick Bullock, brother of local activist Broderick Flanigan.
