OK, so there's this total solar eclipse set to occur on Monday afternoon, and it's really going to be something rare and different as Athens and a good bit of the rest of America falls beneath its darkening path. According to Space.com, this "quirk of cosmic geology" will darken the Classic City sky at about 1 p.m., with the total eclipse set to begin at 2:35 p.m. and should peak a few minutes later.

Rachael Catherine Lovett, 20, and Harrison Bennett Barsky, 19, were arrested after police spotted them on the street with open containers of alcohol. Elijah James Cheely, 20, was arrested after police noticed two IDs in his wallet while he was attempting to enter an Athens bar.

Athens man acquitted in child molestation trial

The four-day trial before Judge Stephens resulted in a not guilty verdict on charges of statutory rape, child molestation and enticing a minor for indecent purposes, according to the verdict document filed Aug. 10 in Clarke County Superior Court.
