Bank robber with poor spelling skills pleads guilty

A Massachusetts man authorities dubbed the "spelling bee bandit" because the notes he passed to tellers during multiple bank robberies in the Boston area contained the same spelling error has pleaded guilty. Authorities say the Chelsea man entered an Arlington bank on Oct. 31, 2016, approached a teller and handed over a note written on a deposit slip indicating a robbery was in progress, except robbery was spelled with just one "B."

Suspect Arrested for Church Street Stabbing

The Cambridge Police Department arrested a homeless man, formerly from Arlington, for a stabbing in Harvard Square last Sunday night, hours after the close of the Head of the Charles Regatta. Twenty-five year old Anthony Wall was taken into custody around 10 a.m. on Oct. 26 and will be charged with armed assault with intent to murder in Cambridge District Court.

Man overdoses while driving in Arlington, police say

An Arlington police officer resuscitated a man who apparently overdosed on opioids and crashed his vehicle Friday afternoon, police said. The driver, a 32-year-old Arlington resident, was not breathing when first responders arrived at the scene of the crash at the intersection of Mystic Valley Parkway and River Street shortly after 1 p.m., Arlington police said in a statement.
