Antioch man arrested after police standoff

A man wanted by police was arrested Friday after he ran from officers and barricaded himself in an apartment, prompting a standoff lasting several hours. Police said at about 11 a.m. the 36-year-old Antioch man ran from the officer on Hudson Court to an apartment complex a few blocks away in the 3900 block of Delta Fair Boulevard.

Speed humps coming to Antioch; city taking residents' requests

City council members this week unanimously approved a policy spelling out how it will decide which streets receive the speed deterrents that typically force motorists to observe the 25-mile-per-hour limit in residential areas and around schools. "I think it will make a big difference," said Assistant City Engineer Lynne Filson, although she noted that some streets will require more than one speed hump to prevent drivers from immediately punching the gas again after going over the first.

Police, needy kids meet at Brentwood Target to holiday "Shop with a Cop"

Full sirens were a-blazing from a convoy of police cars crossing the Target entrance with kids inside - kids who were about to participate in the city's annual Shop with a Cop event. But the fun started an hour-and-a-half earlier at 7 a.m. Dec. 9 in the Brentwood Caf, where 17 in-need kids were first treated to breakfast with the officers, compliments of Paul Boulos.

The former general manager of Roddy Ranch Golf Club will serve jail time after pleading guilty on Friday to theft that became the last nail in the coffin for the golf club. According to court documents, Fitzgerald stole over $326,000 from owner Jack Roddy, Figtree Financing and the Commercial PACE Loan Program, which finances solar panel installation.

Two arrested after distracting priest, stealing laptop

Two Antioch men were in county jail after their arrests in connection with a laptop robbery at an East Bay college campus, authorities said Wednesday. At 10:45 a.m., Moraga police responded to reports of two suspects stealing a laptop from St. Mary's College, 1928 St Marys Road, and driving away in a black Jeep.

Man Arrested Saturday for Theft at Concord's Sunvalley Mall Killed in Shooting on Sunday in Antioch

A murder victim has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office today as 19-year-old Antioch resident Kadeem Hodge, who was shot and killed early Sunday morning in his hometown, police said. An Antioch resident with the same name was arrested a day earlier for allegedly shoplifting at the Sunvalley Shopping Center in Concord, but Concord police did not immediately confirm whether it is the same person, however, friends of the victim have confirmed he is the same man.
