Addison is located in northeastern Illinois, just west of Chicago. The Salt Creek of the Des Plaines River Tributary runs through the town of Addison. The town was named in honor of 18th century writer Joseph Addison, who is best known as a co-founder of The Spectator magazine. During the 1960s and 1970s Addison was home to the Adventureland amusement park. From 1967 to 1976 it was the largest amusement park in all of Illinois. The park featured several rides such as the Dizzy Hofbrauhaus, and Bumper Cars.

Driver Killed Edith Guevara, 58, Injured 2 Others in Portage Park

Last Friday in Portage Park, a driver struck another car, then hit two pedestrians on the sidewalk, killing 58-year-old Edith Guevara and injuring the driver of the second vehicle and the other pedestrian. At about 9 p.m. the first driver, a 65-year-old woman in a 2002 Toyota, was heading west on the 4700 block of West Addison when she struck a 2006 Toyota SUV that was turning south on Keating, driven by a 28-year-old woman, according to police.
